Drivers beware: Parking charges shake-up in this Stoke-on-Trent town

Free parking has been withdrawn from a Stoke-on-Trent car park - from this week. Stoke-on-Trent City Council has scrapped free parking on Longton Exchange car park, in Longton, in the hope of generating an extra £180,000 a year.

It means Longton Exchange car park now costs drivers £1 for up to one hour, £1.60 to £2 for up to two hours, £2.70 to £3.40 for up to three hours, and £3.70 to £4.60 for up to four hours. Parking is free after 7pm.

The council has moved the 30-minute free parking from Longton Exchange to the nearby Chancery Lane car park. It now costs drivers £1.30 for up to one hour, £1.60 to £2 for up to two hours, £2.70 to £3.20 for up to three hours, and £4.20 to £5 for all-day parking on Chancery Lane car park. Chancery Lane car park is also free after 7pm.

A council spokesman said: "The free parking area in Longton has now been relocated to Chancery Lane Car Park. Motorists will need to press the green button on the ticket machine to get a free 30-minute parking ticket."
