Yahoo News Drivers warned of Glastonbury Festival travel chaos
Thousands of motorists have been warned that the Glastonbury Festival is predicted to cause gridlock on the roads surrounding Worthy Farm. National Highways has warned drivers in the South West to allow extra time for their journeys ahead of the festival.
The roads leading to Worthy Farm, the site of the Glastonbury Festival, are expected to be busiest from Wednesday, June 26 to Friday, June 28. Is it thought that there will be many thousands of motorists planning on making the journey on the M5 and the A39 to get to the festival.
While the festival traffic has minimal impact on the town of Glastonbury itself, located five miles away from the festival site, motorists should anticipate peak traffic on Wednesday, particularly around junctions 25 and 23 of the M5.

In previous years, the A39 has seen heavy congestion by mid-morning. Traffic levels are also predicted to rise on Monday, July 1, as festival-goers return home from the site.
The main motorway route for festival traffic is the M5, with drivers advised to exit at junction 23 and take the A39 and A361. The A303-A37 is also a popular route for those travelling from London, with the eastbound A303 expected to be particularly busy from Podimore Roundabout.
