FOLLOWING the "resounding success" of the inaugural Newclose Beer Festival last year, ale and cricket aficionados will be making a bee-line for the Isle of Wight's premier cricket venue for the much anticipated 2024 event.

Starting tomorrow (Friday, June 28), this year's Newclose Beer Festival has been extended to a third day, which includes the weekend.

The event will take place in its marquee, which can accommodate up to 250 visitors.

There will again be 35 beers on offer, which will featured a beer specially brewed for the festival, with a cricketing theme, called How’s Zat, produced by Island Ales.

Those patrons who prefer cider or wine will also be accommodated. Also, there will be a full range of beverages available from the Pavilion bar.

Hot food will also be provided by Taste Buddies IOW.

Over the weekend, there will be plenty of cricket and musical entertainment on offer.

On the cricket field, Newport Cricket Club's first team will host St Helens from 1pm on Saturday, with the Isle of Wight Cricket Board staging a six-a-side competition for the Brian Gardener Cup on Sunday, starting at 11am.

The Island's 'big three' clubs — Ventnor, Ryde and Shanklin and Godshill — will be taking part, alongside six other clubs, offering a full day of action on the field of play.

There will be a full programme of musical entertainment in the marquee, including Second Time Around on Saturday and The Crew on the Sunday.

The festival gets underway at 4pm tomorrow and 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday, with visitors still be able to socialise until 9pm tomorrow and Saturday and 8pm Sunday.

£10 entry fee.
