Drone Damaged After Hawk Swoops in for Attack

A student learning to fly a drone in Charleston, West Virginia, was stunned when a hawk swooped in from the trees and struck the device.

Drone footage uploaded on September 16 by Justin Rucker shows the quick encounter, as a hawk suddenly appears from the trees, swooping in with its talons facing the camera.

“When [you’re] flying a drone, you don’t expect to be attacked by a hawk,” Rucker told Storyful. “The drone, as you can see, was still able to fly, but one of the propellers was chipped.” Credit: Justin Rucker via Storyful
