Drug bust in Argillite

Mar. 8—ARGILLITE — Greenup County Sheriff's deputies arrested two people in Argillite on Wednesday after obtaining a search warrant during a drug investigation, according to a press release from Sheriff Matt Smith.

Billy Rowe, 49, and Jennifer Barber, 35, are facing drug trafficking charges following a search of a residence on Cherokee Way in Argillite.

According to the release, a female attempted to flee in an effort to dispose of evidence. The female possessed a silencer for a firearm, crystal meth and cash, according to police.

The search revealed that a PVC pipe piece with waterproof ends was buried in the residence's back yard. The piece contained about 3 ounces of methamphetamine, several packets of Suboxone, various pills and a set of digital scales.

Police seized a vehicle and more than $32,000 cash.

The investigation is still pending, according to Sheriff Smith, and more arrests are pending. Rowe's charges will be amended up, said the sheriff, because it's his third trafficking offense.
