Dumbarton man stabbed from behind in unprovoked broad daylight assault

A man is in a serious condition after he was stabbed in an unprovoked attack in Dumbarton.

At around 10.30am on Thursday, May 16, the victim was walking in a field near Murroch Avenue when he was approached from behind and seriously assaulted.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the 30-year-old victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to stab wounds. Medical staff describe his current condition as serious.

Detectives are appealing for information in a bid to trace the unknown attacker.

Detective Constable John Pryde said: “The victim did not see the person who assaulted him and enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“We are appealing for any witnesses who were in the surrounding area at the time and noticed anything suspicious to please get in touch.
