Yahoo News ‘Dune’ VFX House DNEG Teams With Dimension on LED Volume Stages in London, Rome
DNEG, the London-headquartered visual effects and animation house that has won Oscars for the likes of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and has also worked on The Last of Us and season 4 of Stranger Things, among others – unveiled the launch of a new unit dubbed DNEG 360, which is operated by real-time production firm Dimension Studio.
The partners also unveiled what they described as “two of the world’s largest LED volume stages” in London and Rome.

DNEG and Dimension initially struck a joint venture deal in 2021 to partner on virtual production services. DNEG 360 expands on the partnership to also include visualization, content creation, and development services.
“This expanded offering provides clients with an end-to-end production partnership and a seamless transition through development, pre-production and virtual production into visual effects and post for feature film and episodic projects, advertising, music videos and more,” DNEG said.
The London LED volume space offers two stages, one featuring an LED volume with “1,600 panels making up a 20 meters by 8 meters curved LED wall, with four wild walls, and a retractable LED ceiling,” while the other is “set up for performance, vehicle, and volumetric capture,” the companies said. The Rome LED site is located at Cinecittà Studios, “featuring a 24 meters by 8 meters LED volume with an LED ceiling and a 25 meters rotating platform deck to allow for quick repositioning of sets.”

Since 2021, DNEG and Dimension have delivered virtual production work on such shows as Masters of the Air (Apple TV+), Those About to Die (Peacock), Here (Sony Pictures), Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix), No Way Up (Altitude Film Entertainment), Devotion (Sony Pictures), The Muppets Mayhem (Disney+).
