Dustin Lance Black hits back at critical Katie Hopkins over surrogate baby joke

Dustin Lance Black has responded to Katie Hopkins’ comments over a ‘next day delivery’ baby joke.

On 14 February, Olympian Tom Daley, 23, and Hollywood actor and writer Dustin, 43, announced they were having a baby.

Naturally, the internet reacted warmly to the news that the married couple will be having a child via a surrogate, although they didn’t go into any detail other than to happily share their glee.

But not everyone congratulated the couple on their news. Unsurprisingly, Katie Hopkins had something to say on the matter, and voiced her opinion on Twitter.

Hopkins decided to try and be funny when it came to the news, albeit jumping on it weeks after it had done the rounds.

‘And with @amazonprime thy get free next day delivery,’ she quipped.

And it didn’t take Tom long to hit back, telling her: ‘is actually a 2 hour delivery service. Not next day. Sorry Hun, Love ya babez,’ as he threw shade her way.

She followed up with a typically biting response over how much effort women put into labour, in an attempt to undermine him and husband Dustin.

But hubby Dustin wasn’t having any of it, and offered a lengthy tweet response to her veiled criticism.

‘For any who care to understand this process, surrogacy for gay & straight parents as well as most pregnancies requiring medical assistance can take years longer than those that don’t,’ he said.

‘And pregnancies requiring medical help come with their very own hopes, heartbreaks & joy.’

The couple also revealed this week that they’re expecting a boy, after chatting on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast. ‘We’re going to have a little boy!’ Tom told her.

The pair have been married since 2017, having had their wedding in Bovey Castle in May of last year.
