Ben Mitchell may be gone (for now), but former EastEnders star Harry Reid has announced where he's off to next.

Harry will be taking to the London stage, as he has landed a major part in Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution.

"I am thrilled to announce that I will be taking over the part of Leonard Vole in Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution," he posted on Instagram. "Showing at The Old County Hall, South Bank, please come and support me and the rest of the cast."

Harry added that fans can see him in action between March 27 and November 18.

"Very excited about this opportunity to work with a fantastic script and my on-stage debut," he said.

In an interview with Radio Times, Harry shared that theatre was always in his plans following his EastEnders exit.

"I'm so excited to get started – it's a brilliantly designed production and really immersive theatre," he said. "Leonard has a real innocence about him. He's very easily led by people, but really lovable too.

"It's a very interesting part to play, and the story keeps you guessing until the end."

Ben Mitchell's departure from Albert Square was broadcast in January as part of the missing money storyline.

However, it may not be the last time we have seen Reid on the soap – he has recently suggested that Ben could pop by for an episode in the foreseeable future.

"Ben loves his dad and will always speak to him if he beckons, and he has beckoned, so I imagine they will speak," he said. "I think that ultimately they'll sort it out between them and will hopefully have a very nice Christmas 2018."

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
