EastEnders' Bobby Beale was left furious at his grandmother Kathy tonight after she betrayed him and had his friend Imran arrested.

Bobby recently returned to Albert Square after serving time in a juvenile detention centre for killing his sister Lucy Beale over five years ago, and while he's been trying to rebuild his life through a newfound faith in Islam, he's still struggling to put the past behind him.

With Bobby now plagued by visions of Lucy's ghost, his behaviour has become increasingly erratic, and his grandmother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) has begun to seriously worry about him.

In tonight's episode (September 16), Kathy tried to beg Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) to call off his plans to move in with Lucy's ex Max Branning (Jake Wood) and his brother Jack (Scott Maslen) for a while – completely unaware that he's finding it increasingly difficult to be at home because of his harrowing hallucinations.

But things went pear-shaped for Bobby when he asked Max whether his new friend Imran (Reda Elazouar) could stay with them too, but a furious Jack overheard and put a stop to things.

"I can't have two young offenders under my roof," he growled. "I assume that's where you two met. Sorry, you can't stay."

As Imran tried to apologise to Bobby and insisted he could find somewhere else to stay, Bobby assured him he'd "sort" things, only for Kathy to quiz them both back at the house.

"With all due respect, is this somewhere to stay or somewhere to lay low?" Kathy asked the pair.

But while Kathy appeared to agree to let them stay and said she was popping out to grab some food for the three of them, she instead decided to contact the police, wrongly assuming that Bobby's anxiety has something to do with Imran, rather than his hallucinations.

As the police turned up to arrest Imran on the grounds of conspiracy to rob, a concerned Kathy insisted she had only done it to protect Bobby.

"I saw how on edge you were as soon as you walked in with him," she said. "You could barely look at him or me. You were clearly scared of him."

"It's nothing like that," Bobby replied. "I needed him. He was my friend and you took him away."

Furious and frightened of Lucy's spectre once again, Bobby stormed out. Will the Beales ever be able to patch things up?

EastEnders continues on Tuesday (September 17) at 7:30pm on BBC One.
