Yahoo News EastEnders hints at wedding drama for Lauren and Steven
EastEnders aired a new twist for Lauren Branning tonight (July 25) as she was forced into accepting Steven Beale's public marriage proposal.
Spoilers had revealed that Steven would be popping the question as part of his plan to keep Lauren close, but her response had been kept under wraps until transmission.
Fans know that Steven is lying to Lauren about having a brain tumour, after getting wind of her plans to leave him for good.
With his scheme seemingly working, Steven has taken it a few steps further by deciding to adopt little Louie and make Lauren his wife.
Steven was visibly disappointed when Lauren seemed apprehensive about his big suggestion regarding Louie, but later headed out to a meeting to get some legal advice regardless.
Upon returning to Walford, it was clear that Steven now had another idea in mind as he gathered everyone in The Vic for a surprise announcement.
While Lauren hoped that he was finally telling his family about his brain tumour – and Abi hoped he was about to tell everyone about his fling with her – both sisters were left alarmed when Steven got down on one knee.
Lauren was backed into a corner when Steven asked her to marry him in front of both their families and even presented her with a ring – leaving her with no choice but to say yes.
Given that Lauren has admitted that she doesn't love Steven, the latest development will undoubtedly leave her feeling more trapped than ever. But just how far is Steven planning to take his cruel lies?
