EastEnders has aired shocking scenes as Phil Mitchell received a warning over his brutal attack.

Last week, Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) fled the Square with Phil's daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) after being framed for the attack by Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).

In reality, it was actually Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) who'd knocked Phil into a coma to stop him from hurting Martin (James Bye) and Kat (Jessie Wallace). Ben later forced her to go on the run while he pinned the crime on nemesis Keanu.

In Monday's episode (August 19), Ben tried to keep up appearances by throwing his dad a big party for his homecoming with all of the family (minus Keanu and Louise).

But Phil wasn't buying Ben's attempts to curry favour, confronting him once the guests left about his argument with Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) in the hospital.

Ben denied there was any bust-up, then rushed to cover his tracks with Jay, only for Phil to get to Jay first. However, a reluctant Jay covered up that Ben had tried to pull the plug on his dad's life support.

"Ben saw you laying there, tubes up everything, got himself into a right state, didn't he?" Jay claimed. "I told him to get a grip and he started taking it out on me. Like Ben's going to admit to blubbing like a little girl."

Jay then assured Phil: "[Ben] does care about you, you know? Even if he doesn't show it."

It was only when Phil got an unexpected visit from old flame Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) at The Arches that he started to have flashbacks to the night of his attack.

"I know what happened," he insisted.

Later in the episode, Kat Moon returned home to find Phil waiting in her kitchen. Phil then dropped the bombshell that he remembered their argument on the night of the attack.

Kat desperately tried covering for Stacey by taking responsibility for whacking Phil, before finally agreeing to tell him the truth if he promised to leave her family alone.

"You are pointing the finger at the wrong person here," she warned him. "That Ben of yours. He's only out for himself. Don't trust him!"

We'll find out the ramifications of Kat's warning tomorrow night!
