EastEnders to re-air from the beginning this summer
It’s been revealed that EastEnders will re-air the legendary soap from the very beginning over the summer.
Fans will finally get the chance to experience it all from the beginning – or relive its 1985 start for some – when episodes air from the very start, according to Digital Spy.
UKTV confirmed the news that the Drama Channel would play the first episodes of the Watford-based soap (in order) throughout the month of August.
It means fans will be transported back to 19 February, 1985, when the soap debuted where it opens with Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), Ali Osman (Nejdet Salih), and Arthur Fowler (Bill Treacher) introducing us to the world of EastEnders.
It’s also a coincidence that the blast from the past ‘Enders episodes have been announced just days after one of its original stars, Gantham, passed away. The 71-year-old had been battling lung cancer and died in the UK after coming back having emigrated to Bulgaria after he split from his long-term wife Jane.
‘Drama is excited to give viewers another chance to watch how this iconic British show began,’ a spokesperson said.
The Drama Channel will air the classic episodes weekdays at midday and will be available on the UKTV Play on-demand service.
