EastEnders spoilers: Lola dies in tragic scenes, the Knight family arrives in the Square

It’s the week we’ve been dreading on EastEnders as friends and loved ones say goodbye to a dying Lola – but will Ben be back from America in time?

And away from the exit, there are entrances too, as Elaine’s fella George arrives in town with his two daughters – but who is set to get on his wrong side?

Lola dies

After Lola suffers another seizure, nurse Suzanne tells Jay that the end is near. In her opinion, there will now be long periods of unconsciousness for Lola, so the time has come for loved ones to say their goodbyes.

But on Wednesday, Jay will be seen battling with letting go of the woman he loves, while Phil also struggles with the situation. Kathy and Callum, meanwhile, go into Lola’s bedroom and promise to look after Lexi for her.

Linda later recognises the sombre mood in the Square and invites Callum, Jack, Whitney, Rocky, Denise and some of the others to have a lock-in at the pub, where they reflect on the tragedy of Lola’s terminal illness.

Billy is arrested

His stress-levels skyrocketing due to the news about Lola, Billy has a run-in with Nish, who winds him up. Cue Billy smashing the window of the Minute Mart before he’s restrained by Martin, Honey and Phil.

Nish demands justice but is left irritated when Phil throws money at the situation. And when Jack arrives on the scene to deescalate tensions, Billy ends up inadvertently hitting him in the face, which results in his arrest.

Phil and Honey then try to get Billy released, but are told that this can only happen if Nish withdraws his statement and doesn’t press charges. But can the Panesar patriarch be convinced?

Will Ben get home in time?

Word that Ben has done a flit reaches an exasperated Callum and Kathy, while Jay and Billy are both left furious. Worried about the consequences should Ben be on the other side of the world when Lola dies, Kathy asks Callum to use his detective skills to track him down.

Ben, though, eventually calls Callum, who doesn’t reveal that Lola is close to death, as Ben is about to get on a plane anyway. But Callum can’t help but worry that Ben will never forgive himself if he’s not in Walford at the pivotal time.

Elaine’s love interest George Knight arrives

So this is also the week when actor Colin Salmon arrives as Elaine’s fella George Knight from Marbella. He brings with him daughters Anna (Strictly's Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry), as well as a reputation as a championship boxer. And Nish soon learns that George isn’t to be messed when the two of them clash.

Linda, for her part, is annoyed that it was Elaine’s plan all along to instal her fiancé. But George promises Linda he won’t be causing trouble and just wants to build a future for his family.

Kim collapses

Anxiety-ridden Kim tries to paint on a smile when accosted by a fan of the Kimfluencer in the Salon. And when follower Adele asks Kim to record a birthday video for her daughter, Kim does her best, but is soon seen rushing out after getting overwhelmed.

When Kim then collapses in the street, Sonia rushes over and gets her to describe her symptoms. Her advice? That Kim needs to go to A&E to get checked out.

Bobby is smitten

Finally, we’ll see Bobby get immediately infatuated with George’s daughters Anna and Gina. But the pair don’t prove as popular with Kathy, who lambasts them for bringing their chihuahua Tyson into the café.

And there’s further upset later when the girls misjudge the mood in the Vic as they try to get into a party mood – unaware of Lola’s sad death.
