Edinburgh drivers facing delays as bypass breakdown triggers tailbacks

Edinburgh drivers using the city bypass faced delays on Thursday morning after a vehicle broke down.

The lorry, which had broken down near Baberton, led to the closure of lane one eastbound. Traffic Scotland said drivers could face delays of up to 20 minutes.

Emergency services were on the scene.

Traffic was said to be tailing back onto the M8 at around 8.15am.

Traffic Scotland said: "Baberton - lane one of the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass is currently blocked eastbound due to a broken down lorry.

"Traffic is tailing back onto the M8 at the moment with an (appx) travel time of around 20 mins. Police and recovery are on scene."

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
