More details will be announced soon but applications are now open via the Edinburgh TV Festival website until June 7 for registered Fringe artists to put themselves forward. They would be among one of six stand-ups and six scripted show creators who’ll have the opportunity to perform at the TV Festival and receive a full free pass to the event.

The fringe is home to the biggest comics, birthing the careers of some of Britain’s finest. The TV Festival runs concurrent to the Fringe and turns 49 this year.

Campbell Glennie, who runs the Edinburgh TV Fest and TV Foundation, said: “So much of the TV Festival’s buzz comes from the very special feeling the Fringe brings to the city every year. We’re turning our mutual appreciation society into something life-changing for new acts, and voices who otherwise would not get this opportunity.”

USG Chair Pearlena Igbokwe aded: “We have been attending both the Edinburgh TV Festival and Fringe Festival for many years and have always felt the incredible energy and creative spirit that defines them. These festivals are pivotal for our industry, fostering the exchange of ideas and showcasing the best undiscovered talent. Continuing our commitment to find and amplify new voices, USG is honored to partner with these formidable institutions to provide a ground-breaking and first-of-its-kind platform to foster the next generation of visionary storytellers”.
