Ella Purnell and Claudia Schiffer join Dame Shirley Bassey at glitzy Serpentine Gallery Summer Party

A host of stars, young and old, came together for this year’s star-studded Serpentine Gallery Summer Party.

Ella Purnell led the fashion pack as she paid homage to host Chanel at the bash in Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park.

The actress, 20, turned heads in a pleated navy gown which she teamed with a black belt featuring the iconic Chanel logo in red.

Purnell, who most recently starred alongside Brian Cox and Miranda Richardson in Churchill, finished off the look with bright red lips.

She was joined by fellow rising star Ellie Bamber who made sure to make an entrance in a show stopping dress.

Bamber, 20, opened up her arms as she flaunted her patterned cape gown for the cameras. The Nocturnal Animals star teamed the look with bright turquoise heels.

Jumping on the blue accessorising was Claudia Schiffer who showed off her model looks as she arrived in a nude high neck gown. She finished off the look with black heels and a chunky blue handbag.

Grayson Perry looked predictably flamboyant in a pink skirt and jacket combo which he teamed with stand-out face paint and a bright yellow wig.

Dame Shirley Bassey was all smiles as she made a grand entrance in a black midi gown. The Bond singer waved to photographers as she posed for photos before making her way inside the pavilion.

The annual event also doubled up as date night for a handful of stars including Helen McCrory and her husband Damian Lewis, and Gary Kemp and his wife Lauren Barber.

Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr was accompanied by his daughter Sonny while Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anais and beauty vlogger Tanya Burr opted to fly solo.

Other attendees included Roksanda Ilincic, Adwoa Aboah, Charlotte Dellal and Martha Ward.

This year’s event is co-hosted by Chanel, Serpentine Galleries’ new chief executive officer Yana Peel and artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist. It marks Peel’s first party since taking over from Julia Peyton-Jones.

Previous hosts included Tommy Hilfiger, Christopher Kane and Brioni.

Architect Diébédo Francis Kéré was commissioned to design this year’s pavilion.
