Emmerdale villain Meena is armed and dangerous (ITV)

Emmerdale airs a terrifying ordeal for Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) in Tuesday's gripping edition, as killer Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) takes full control.

Meena returned last week ready to exact her revenge, and her warm up act was to stalk Dawn ahead of her wedding to Billy (Jay Kontzle).

Monday’s Valentine’s Day episode began with a giddy Meena wandering around the church, armed with a gun. Still, the twisted nurse did at least disappear long enough for the couple to tie the knot in peace. Small mercies!

Dawn and Billy were wed in a beautiful ceremony - before murderous Meena arrived to spoil the celebrations (ITV)

Dawn and Billy exchanged vows in a fairytale ceremony complete with romantic declarations, tears of joy and proud smiles. But things took a dramatic turn when Billy left to check on a surprise for his new wife.

A white limousine arrived outside the church, and an excited Dawn hopped in. She then got the shock of her life when Meena revealed herself, all dressed up in chauffeur finery.

When we return to the village, the reception guests are waiting at Home Farm, where Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) is preparing a feast — but the newlyweds are nowhere to be seen.

Meena has a sick game in store for the newlyweds in tonight's Emmerdale (ITV)

Father of the bride Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) is starting to worry, and wedding planner Leyla Cavanagh (Roxy Shahidi) tries to locate the pair. Others are more concerned over when the food will be ready. At least they’ve got their priorities straight.

So what is Meena planning to do to Dawn? And where is an absent Billy?

Well, the presence of a gun provides a big clue as to Meena’s intentions. And let’s not forget she loves the fanfare of an elaborate game, preferring to savour her kills.

Dawn was terrified last week when Meena began her sinister scheme with a spot of stalking (ITV)

After everything she has overcome in the last few years, will Dawn be defiant in the face of such danger? Or will Meena’s sinister scheme win the day?

Viewers should expect one of the most tense soap scenes of the year so far, and that’s quite the statement given the destruction that Meena has already inflicted upon the locals.

Is her body count set to increase this week? That’s certainly her plan, but fans will be more interested in how Emmerdale will put an end to Meena’s reign.
