Emmerdale spoilers: Rapist Craig is released, Suni’s dad has secrets
As this is an aftermath week, Emmerdale is opting not to reveal the fate of Mack, Chloe and Charity ahead of transmission. The trio are set be involved in a car accident that leaves them teetering on a cliff edge, but the outcome remains a secret before broadcast.
Instead, spoilers for the week of 16-20 October 2023 chart Sam’s struggle to support Lydia in the aftermath of her rape, while the arrival of Amit sees him trying to play happy families with Suni and Jai.
But might he be keeping secrets?
Sam and Lydia’s continuing struggles
Lydia turns down the offer to spend the day with Sam, a decision that leaves him upset and unsure as to how he ought to be handling things. She’s insistent that the house needs to be cleaned, but he’s feeling helpless and scared to even touch his clearly traumatised wife.

Presently, a police officer arrives with the disappointing news that Craig has been released pending further investigation. Following the setback, an angry Sam will be seen sitting alone. And when Rhona passes by, Sam finds himself desperate to unburden himself and invites her back home, where a despondent Lydia is now leafing through Crisis leaflets.
A supportive Rhona then sits with the two of them as Lydia reveals her feelings and a tormented Sam expresses his fury that the actions of Craig may go unpunished. Fearing the worst, Sam is later given food for thought by Cain and wonders whether he can personally bring Craig to justice. Lydia, meanwhile, attends a counselling session, her brave decision leaving Sam full of admiration.
Amit creates an atmosphere of unease
Amit – father to Suni and is it now turns out Jai too – has turned up harbouring secrets. And it’s not long before he indulges in some emotional blackmail where an incredulous Suni is concerned. Fans will see Nicky left agog when Suni reveals what his father’s big cover-up actually is, while Jai is set to be left wary as Amit recalls some old tales.
On the surface, Amit is trying to play happy families, but a dinner at Holdgate results in him sizing Caleb up, as a nervous Nicky and Suni exchange looks, each hoping that certain things won’t come out.
Soon enough, though, the atmosphere is frosty between Amit and Caleb. And Nicky is then set to be left taken aback when Amit starts to question his relationship with Amy. After the guests make their exit, Suni expresses his displeasure with his father. Caleb, meanwhile, is left intrigued when Nicky hints at the skeletons in Amit’s closet.
In other news…
Amelia, meanwhile, finds herself getting upset when she receives a birthday card from an incarcerated Dan. Elsewhere, Belle can sense that something is off with a subdued Tom.
And after receiving encouragement from Pollard and Jacob, David reluctantly sends a message to someone with whom he’s been matched on a dating app. Emmerdale has yet to reveal how actor Matthew Wolfenden is to depart the show, but might his alter-ego David depart due to new-found romance?
