Emmerdale's Claudette Anderson explains the story behind her lies

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Claudette Anderson has explained her full story after getting caught out lying.

Charles' mum recently turned up and faked a back injury to get everyone to run around doing chores for her so she could carry on staying with her son.

After being caught out by Manpreet Sharma, Claudette revealed that she had become homeless after living in her place for nearly 40 years, but didn't want to delve any further into it. In Wednesday's (May 31) episode though, she explained more about what really happened.

"One day I get a letter through the post telling me to find somewhere else to live," she said, revealing the landlord wanted to knock her home down to make room for new buildings and that there was nothing else she could do.

Claudette said she didn't want to go to the council to try and get some help, and looked elsewhere. However, she found that London prices were just too expensive for her.

"I never thought my life would end up like this. I worked all my life, saved up a small pension," she continued.

"You could have called me," said Charles, before Claudette retorted that he made no effort to contact her and she felt like he wasn't interested in her life.

Charles agreed and offered to let her stay but she wasn't sure — until Manpreet suggested starting again with their relationship.

The trio made a pact to have no more secrets between them and Claudette agreed, although the look on her face suggested otherwise.

Emmerdale airs at the earlier time of 7pm this week on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
