Emmerdale's Jacob Gallagher's desperate attempts to get in touch with Maya are set to push David to breaking point next week.

Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) made her final appearance on Thursday (June 20) when her deceitful character finally got her comeuppance and was sent to prison to carry out a 12-month sentence, but Jacob has been left devastated as a result.

It came after Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) had been lying to his family and planning to run away with Maya if she avoided a custodial sentence.

In senes set to air next week, Jacob's dad David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) is left concerned after he receives a call from the prison telling him that the teenager has been trying to contact Maya.

When Jacob and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) later visit the shop, David is desperate to build bridges with his son, but is left disappointed again when Jacob immediately leaves.

Although David is comforted by Eric, who tells him he'll find a way to get through Jacob, it looks like Jacob's behaviour has driven David to consider some drastic measures as he picks up a games controller and resolves to set up an online gaming account before searching for Jacob's tag.

Will this be the break David needs to get through to his son, or will he only end up making things worse?

An Emmerdale spokesperson recently confirmed to Digital Spy that Louisa has now left the soap and we shouldn't expect to see scenes with Maya in prison, where she'll be staying for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming episodes will now explore the aftermath for Jacob and his family, who are still struggling to convince the teen to accept that he was groomed by Maya.

Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with extra episodes at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
