A murder probe has been launched after a young woman was stabbed to death in north London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene in Ponders End, in Enfield, at about 6.30am on Thursday.

The victim, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is receiving treatment in a north London hospital.

He is in a stable condition, Scotland Yard said.

The Metropolitan Police said in statement: “Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

“Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, led by DCI Dave Whellams, investigate.”
