Eric da Silva Moreira is a Nottingham Forest player - and happy to be one. The youngster has signed a four-year deal which will keep him at the City Ground until at least the summer of 2028.

In doing so he becomes the second young player to move to the Reds in the last few days, following the arrival of Marko Stamenic who has been subsequently loaned to Olympiacos.

Da Silva Moreira has joined from St Pauli, who have just been promoted to the Bundesliga, having come through the youth set-up there. He has very little first team experience but a growing reputation as one of the shining starlets in the Germany national age group teams.

The 18-year-old has spoken to Forest TV about the move – and his first impressions of the club. Clearly one thing stood out – looking around he saw the European Cups won by Brian Clough’s teams in 1979 and 1980.

His response was priceless, proclaiming himself: “Ready to get more.” That will certainly be welcomed by hugely ambitious owner Evangelos Marinakis of his desire to rediscover the club’s silver-lined years. Indeed the teenager arrives having won the Euros and World title with Germany’s Under-17s.

Da Silva Moreira added: “I’m really happy to be here, I’m really happy to arrive here with my family as well and I can’t wait to get started.

“I just saw the stadium and it looks great. I’ve also heard a lot about the fans and I’m ready to get started. The incredible stadium, the fans, I heard a lot about the club and there is loads of tradition.

“I heard a lot about the league, a lot about many clubs, so I’m very happy to be at Nottingham Forest, especially at a club that has a lot of tradition just like my old club.

“I’m a really fast player who likes to go 1v1 both offensively and defensively. I like to be hard in the duels, my opponents will know it. I trained as an attacker until I was 16 and then I was put at full-back, so now I’m defensive and offensive as well.”
