In the latest instalment of Escape to the Country, buyers Sandra and Dave were so emotional over an unexpected reunion they broke down in tears.

The Londoners sought solace from the hustle and bustle of city life, enlisting the help of BBC's Alistair Appleton to find a tranquil retreat in the Cumbrian countryside, closer to their youngest daughter. With £550,000 to spend, their wishlist included a detached property with an expansive garden nestled within a quaint village.

To their surprise, the first property Alistair introduced them to near Broughton-in-Furness exceeded expectations, leaving Dave utterly astonished as he exclaimed to Alistair: "I was not expecting this! Blown away, unbelievable."

The charm of the house's natural stone struck a chord with Sandra, while Dave admitted, "It took my breath away a little bit, to be honest." Their admiration for the property only intensified upon stepping inside, with Sandra admitting her astonishment: "I'm just overwhelmed, I am."

The emotional journey continued for Dave, who, during a private moment on camera, envisioned a festive family scene: "I can imagine myself, or both of us, sitting here with Mica and my other daughter looking out here on Christmas Day. I just- I don't really, I can't talk!"

"It's just amazing it really is. It's something that I've dreamed of, something that we've both dreamed of which we never thought we would have. I said I weren't going to cry! It's nice."

Their daughter Mica decided to join her mum and dad at the next property without them knowing, adding to the emotional rollercoaster. They weren't really sold on the second home, they showed her photos from the first place which blew them away.

When Mica asked if they were likely to buy it, they confessed they were which made their daughter burst into tears. She exclaimed: "Are you actually?! Oh, you're going to make me cry. I just think it's nice, seven years, we've been waiting far too long."

At the end of the episode, they told Alistair they had arranged to go back to the first home. As Alistair told viewers the home was one of the nicest he'd seen on Escape to the Country, he was pleased Dave and Sandra had found what they were looking for.

Unfortunately, as the episode started to conclude, the BBC star explained the owners of the home agreed on a sale before Sandra and Dave were able to get a second viewing.
