Tory leadership hopeful Esther McVey says she would sack all Remainers from her Cabinet
Tory leader hopeful Esther McVey has said she she would not have any Remainers in her cabinet until Brexit was completed is she become Prime Minister.
Speaking in a LBC interview, the Tatton MP said she would only give the top Government jobs to Brexiteers “for the time being” to “make sure” Brexit happens on time.
The Eurosceptic former minister said she would then “absolutely” review Remainers being a part of the Cabinet once Britain was out of the EU.
She said: "I believe at the moment we actually have to have a team that believes in Brexit.
"And they have to because this is the most difficult delivery that we have got to give and we have got to give it by October 31.
"I think you need to have people who believe in Brexit to deliver this by October 31."
She added to LBC: "You now have to choose a side and the only fair thing to do is choose the side that won the referendum."
Ms McVey has said she would be prepared to take Britain out of the EU without an agreement.
Shortly after McVey’s interview fellow Tory leadership hopeful Rory Stewart told Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 5 Live that he believes his rival Boris Johnson has “not a hope” of renegotiating a new Brexit deal with the EU.
He said: “Anyone who knows anything about Europe knows there is not a hope of getting a new deal through Europe by October 31st, not a hope.”
Mr Stewart said Europe is in transition as they just had an election and they are appointing a new commission and they don’t have a negotiator in place.

He said: “There is a lack of realism, we have seen painfully over two and a half years what Europe is doing.
“Anyone who thinks they can go back to Brussels and get a new deal does not understand.”
Boris Johnson is the favourite to be the next Prime Minster followed by Michael Gove, Andrea Leadsom and Michael Gove, according to bookmakers.

Easter McVey has the hardest Brexit position of the so far eight Tory leadership candidates.
She has held out against Theresa May’s deal through the various votes and has said she would take the UK out of the EU without a deal.
Candidates now need to secure support from eight MPs to enter the contest, at least 16 votes in the first ballot on June 13, and 32 in the second round on June 18.
The winner – and the next prime minister – will be decided by Tory members from the two candidates remaining at the end of the process by the week beginning July 22.
