Everton have made their first transfer move of the summer by signing goalkeeper Jonas Lossl on a Bosman deal.

Lossl will officially move to Goodison Park on free transfer from Huddersfield Town on July 1, signing a three-year contract at the Merseyside club where he will be back-up to No 1 Jordan Pickford.

Lossl has spent the last two years at Huddersfield, who were relegated into the Championship at the end the season. Lossl made 31 Premier League appearances for the club in 2018-19.

The 30-year-old Denmark international has previously played for Bundesliga side Mainz 05 having started his career at FC Midtjylland.

Everton’s current back-up keeper is 36-year-old Dutchman Maarten Stekelenburg, who has one year remaining on his existing deal. Stekelenburg moved to Merseyside from Fulham during the reign of Ronald Koeman.

With Pickford established as No 1 for club and country, Lossl can anticipate being an understudy in Marco Silva’s squad.
