Exeter City still waiting on Tom Carroll over new deal

Exeter City are still waiting to see if Tom Carroll will sign a new deal with the Grecians. The 32-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea City man, was absent as the Grecians squad reported back as he is still mulling over City’s contract offer. A

fter getting himself back fit and proving that to Caldwell 12 months ago, Carroll was quickly offered a one-year deal by the Grecians and went on to make 45 appearances in all competitions, scoring once.

Now, City want to extend that stay, but with his family based in Hertfordshire, it is not a straightforward decision for a player, who openly admits he has loved his time with City so far.

“We’ve made an offer to Tom,” Caldwell said. “We’re in a kind of dialogue with Tom, so that’s ongoing, as loads of other situations are ongoing at the moment. It’s that time of year where you’re speaking to lots of different players, but yeah, that’s currently ongoing.”

Such was Carroll’s levels of performance last season that it would be hard to imagine there are no other potential suitors for him, but such is his role and importance for the Grecians, he may yet decide to stay for another year.
