A factory worker who won £1m on the lottery quit his job the same day and went on an eight-month, £72,000 booze-fuelled party around the world.

Matt Myles jetted off on a round-the-world bar crawl just 48 hours after winning the Euromillions raffle in April.

Bachelor Matto, 28, vowed to spend part of his winnings on a huge booze holiday with brother Pete, 27, and friends hours after he won the prize.

He had the ultimate lads’ holiday abroad by globe-trotting to Indonesia, USA, and the World Cup in Brazil, before later heading to Thailand, Ibiza, Spain and Italy.

The group got through £72,000 in under eight months and were ‘on the razz 90 per cent of the time’.

However, Matt’s global spending spree has come back to haunt him since his return - he’s been declined a mortgage because of his poor credit rating.

Matt has since returned home to Hereford to sober up after forking out huge sums partying around the world.

He said: ‘The money has mostly been spent on the pi**. I mean, why wouldn't you?

‘We basically tried to do a night on, a night off the sauce, but most of the time it was night on, night on, night on.

'I would say America was my favourite purely because it is English speaking. The only way to describe New York is London on crack. Everyone is going a million miles an hour.

'It is expensive in New York. We spent £4,500 just to get in and sit at a table in one place in New York.

'We got smashed. It was one of the best nights I have ever had in my life. It was insane.

'One night, I think I spent £7,000 in Space in Ibiza. We had a box next to Carl Cox. It was nuts. We were talking to him, it was pretty cool.'

As well as his £72,000 bar bill, Matt has spent £45,000 on a Porsche and £9,000 on a designer Omega watch.

Matt and his friends finally returned to Britain on November 15.

He added: 'We had to come home for the sake of our livers.

He added: 'We had an amazing time but we all had to come home and grow up, I've got to buy a house and we couldn't carry on much longer without doing ourselves serious damage.

'For my birthday in September, we threw a Great Gatsby party for 350 people. There were champagne showers. I had a 12 litre bottle of Veuve.

'I flew two DJs in from Ibiza. We had this massive marquee next to Kentchurch Court in Herefordshire.

Matt revealed he came down to earth after he was landed in the UK and was refused a mortgage.

He said: 'I was going to buy a load of houses with mortgages and then get people into rent them to pay for the mortgage.

'But mortgage lenders don't see the interest of an investment as income so, in effect I am a millionaire, but I can't even get a mortgage.'
