If you've got a little one who loves planes and helicopters then imagine their delight at this. Families can actually sleep over in their very own Sea King Helicopter.

The unique accommodation is offered at Pinewood Park, in Scarborough, North Yorkshire and available for breaks for couples and families.

There are three of the choppers on site - one of which was used in the Falklands and another one flown by Prince William.

Each one features a double bed, bunk beds - for 13s and under - and a bench seat, which is suitable for a third child.

They're kitted out with a heater, a fridge, a kettle and electric sockets and have 'a spacious raised decked area with table and chairs'. There are toilet and shower facilities to use on the site.

The minimum stay is two nights and, while it's not particularly cheap, costing around £350 a stay, most of May and June are booked up and bookings have already been taken for later in the year. Prices stay the same year-round.

Reviews of the place are positive too, including one on Google from someone who stayed in one of the helicopters and said: "A really great stay in an old Sea King helicopter that had much more space than expected. Really good facilities, and a stone's throw from Scarborough and other local towns."

The helicopters are just one type of accommodation on the site, which is three miles from the nearest beach. There's a huge variety available, including Woody's Wagons, a Tipi Retreat with a hot tub, a Tree Cabin, Tipi Pods, glamping huts and more.

Another reviewer said: "I had a fantastic night's stay at Pinewood. The cabin was spotlessly clean and the futon bed was so comfy. The toilet and shower block was also spotless. The park itself was just amazing. Seeing all of the different types of creative accommodation was just an eye opener. The imagination that has gone into this park is sensational and I can’t wait to come back with my family for a longer stay. Just won’t know which accommodation to pick as they’re all so amazing."

While dogs aren't allowed to stay in the helicopters, there are other options for those travelling with a pooch including camping shacks, the camping field, or space for caravans and motorhomes.
