Family's heartbreak as 'forever loved' Grant Watson dies two days after off-road bike crash

The family of an off-road biker have paid heartfelt tribute following his tragic death.

Grant Anthony Watson, aged just 29, died in hospital two days after he was involved in a crash with a large truck in Field Lane, Upton, near Pontefract, on Friday, June 21, at 11.49pm. Grant was riding an orange and black KTM off-road motorbike which crashed with a blut Mitsubishi L200.

Today, as West Yorkshire Police announced his death, Grant's family said he would be "forever loved". The family statement issued via the police said: "Grant Anthony Watson, a beloved son, grandson, brother, and father. Was sadly involved in a road traffic collision on the Friday the 21st of June 2024. And passed away at the Leeds General Infirmary on the Sunday the 23rd of June 2024. Will be deeply missed and forever loved.”

Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision, which happened at the junction with Pennine View. In a statement, a force spokesperson said today: "Anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to the collision is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team."

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or manner of driving or riding of either vehicle prior to the collision or from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the vehicles involved.
