A craft event in Kendal is set to take place this weekend.

The Factory, situated off Aynam Road, host to numerous artisans, will open its studios to the public on the weekend of June 28-30.

The opening coincides with the launch of the Felltarn Kendal Town Trail 2024.

Jo Vincent from Jo Vincent: Glass Studio has been based at The Factory since 2014.

She said: "This will be one of a series of Open Studios events in 2024.

"I'll be open and happy to explain my work, as will porcelain ceramicist, Rebecca Callis, David Penn of the Artspace gallery, the team at Space2Create, Adam Atkinson of Utility Archive and Katherine Park, an upholsterer."

The Factory is one of several businesses featured in the newest edition of the Town Trail, crafted by Amy Onyango of Felltarn for Kendal's BID project.

Ms Vincent said: "The Trail is all about encouraging visitors to explore the town and find some of its hidden gems for themselves.

"We'd like to think that we fit into that category!

"The Trail and accompanying materials are also very much designed to be family friendly and we're happy to welcome families on site."

On June 29, Clare Addison and the Space2Create team will host children's painting activities from 10am to 4pm.

The day will feature tea, cake, and an art exhibition of Debbie Nicholas' art.

Summer Open Studios at The Factory will run from 2pm to 6pm on Friday, June 28, and from 11am to 4pm on both Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30.

Ms Vincent said: "We've got more dates to come later in the year.

“These are planned to coincide with other events in the town such as the Green Door Art Trail in September, Kendal Mountain Festival in November and the Kendal Christmas Craft Fair at The Brewery at the very end of November.

"The aim is to encourage visitors to one or the other, to try both, and to explore a bit more of Kendal."
