Fans in Sacramento Boo NBA's Decision to Suspend 2020 Season 'Until Further Notice'

The NBA announced on Wednesday, March 11, that the 2020 season would be postponed “until further notice” after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Just after 9.30 ET on Wednesday night, as players warmed up and prepared for tip-off, the Utah Jazz were informed that Gobert’s test for the new coronavirus had returned positive, and immediately alerted the NBA, according to a statement. In Sacramento, where the Kings were set to face the New Orleans Pelicans, fans already arrived in their seats were told that the game was postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

The NBA’s suspension of the season came after the NCAA ruled that March Madness basketball games would be played without spectators.

On Twitter, Sacramento fan Stephen Higley, who posted this video, said, “Thanks @SacramentoKings for letting fans spend money when you could’ve saved everybody a trip by letting the cat out of the bag early.”
