Father And Son Sentenced Over Norfolk Chase That Ended in Deadly Crash

Two men were sentenced to jail on March 25 after a chase involving a stolen Land Rover Defender through fields in Earsham, England, on August 13, 2023, ended in a fatal collision, police said.

Marcin Jablonski, 44, was sentenced to 12 years in prison, accompanied by a 13-year driving disqualification, and was mandated to undergo an extended driving test.

His son, Thomaz Urbaniak, 26, received a two-year prison sentence and a two-year driving disqualification.

Both men from Suffolk pleaded guilty in separate court hearings.

According to the police, prior to the fatal collision that claimed the life of 28-year-old Aisatou Mballow-Baldeh, the stolen vehicle, driven by Jablonski, had evaded police pursuit along the A143 highway.

- Fail to impasse. Please give the location.

- So we got him eastbound on the 143. They're not out of the vehicle yet. And it's a fail to stop, fail to stop. He's bullied his way around the unmarked. Stand by. And he's pushing forwards. He's into the crops. All right, people, I suggest you don't follow him through this field. Because he's got better capability than you have, I think. So one of you-- one of you vehicles back up towards us.

Yeah, he's going away from you now back through the field. He's still in the field, but he's taking evasive action. I think he's trying to look back towards the 143. Stand by. OK, so he's on the A143 proper now heading back eastbound again. It's not high speed. I think he may have taken some damage. It's quite slow, slowing, slowing.

- Preemptive box.

- Well, he's onto the grass. I think he's got steering problems. Crash, cash, crash. Can we have an ambulance, please, to the last location, Bungay Road, A143. Head-on collision with a member of the public so a fire brigade instantly and ambulance, please, and as many units to the scene.
