Fear TWD s4 reveals what happened after dam explosion

From Digital Spy

Fear the Walking Dead season four has finally filled in the gaps about what happened after that dramatic season three finale.

If you need a recap, Nick (Frank Dillane) blew up the dam in order to save Madison (Kim Dickens) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) from the Proctors, with the season ending with the fates of Nick, Alicia, Strand (Colman Domingo) and more up in the air, but at least we knew that Madison survived.

Cut to season four's second episode and we see in the past timeline that Madison, Alicia, Nick, Strand (Colman Domingo) and Luciana (Danay Garcia) are part of a new community at the Diamond, an abandoned baseball stadium, and it's taken until episode six 'Just In Case' to provide some answers thanks to a conversation between Madison and Strand.

Before the dam blew up, it was Strand's fault they were even in the situation with the Proctors as he let them into the dam and, surprisingly, it turns out that Madison saved Strand after the explosion. "Why'd you do it? Save me after what I did," he asks, with Madison giving a simple reply: "I wasn't going to leave you to drown."

Strand then helpfully goes on to outline the events directly after the dam explosion and up to the point where the five of them made their way to the Diamond.

"You brought me back to that cave, you nursed me back to health with Alicia. Nick when he could manage, he went out and found Luciana. I was in bad shape, you could have left long before I was able to walk, but you didn't. You waited for me, after everything. Why?, " he asks. She tells him that it's because she knows who Strand is and she really likes drinking with him.

As good as it is to get some answers to last season's cliffhanger, we're still none the wiser how Nick found Luciana, given she had left way back in episode five of the third season, but we'll just have to wait and see if we'll get further answers to the time between the dam and the Diamond.

Given that Nick was with Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades) at the time of the explosion, it's not clear how the two got separated, even though we've been assured that Daniel is "alive and out there" and we've outlined the reasons why he keeps going missing. "The details surrounding that are something that we're still keeping under wraps," co-showrunner Andrew Chambliss teased.

And since it seems we've moved on to the Vultures as the new antagonists, we probably won't hear from the Proctors – and specifically 'Proctor John' (Ray McKinnon) – again, but we might still get some answers later in season four.

Still, some answers are better than none. Now if only the show could solve the mystery of Madison's fate.

Fear the Walking Dead airs on AMC in the US and on AMC on BT TV in the UK.
