Fenland care home's 'Kindness Garden' boosts community spirit

A care home in a Fenland town has launched a unique project, aiming to fill the community with positivity.

Swan House, situated in Chatteris, has developed a 'kindness garden', instigated by activities staff member, Carly Connett.

Residents, supported by staff including Jo Townshend, have been working diligently over the past few months to create decorations swept with positive messages for the flourishing garden.

Help has also come from friends, families, The Willows Day Nursery and an array of community partners.

The well-received project was officially initiated by a representative from Chatteris in Bloom, Anne Wells, who acclaimed it as a brilliant way to interact with the local community.

Invitations have been extended to everyone to participate, with visitors asked to leave, share or take a positive plaque from the garden.

Instructions are clearly laid out on a sign within the garden, made by family member Julie Chandler.

Already, the garden has greeted guests from local primary school children and the Chatteris Town Football Club's 'Young Lilies'. Praise from passers-by has also been forthcoming.

The overarching goal – to 'paint the town with Kindness'.
