Leeds United could be about to receive a dash of Hollywood glamour upon the news that Will Ferrell is reportedly set to invest in the club.

According to The Sun, Ferrell has pumped a 'large sum of money' into the US owners' 49ers Enterprises. The 56-year-old, best known for his appearances in Anchorman, Step Brothers and the recent blockbuster Barbie, became a huge fan of UK football last year when he watched four matches in six days.

He began by watching Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham take on Wealdstone in the National League before also being spotted in the stands for the Merseyside derby, Manchester City vs Aston Villa and QPR vs Sunderland. This inspired him to invest in English football but it is not his first venture into the sport.

Currently, Ferrell is in the boardroom at MLS side Los Angeles FC and he has often been pictured representing the club while out and about. Ahead of his potential investment into Leeds, Leeds Live has taken a look at how much he is worth compared to some other notable owners in England.

How much is Ferrell worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the comedian is worth approximately $160m (£127m). This is some way behind Wrexham co-owner Reynolds, who is worth a staggering $350m (£278m) but is more than McElhenney who has $50m (£39m) net worth.

However, having a rich American celebrity investing in your football club does not guarantee success. NFL legends Tom Brady and J.J. Watt are testament to that.

Brady invested in Birmingham City this season and they were relegated to League One this weekend despite his net worth of $300m (£239m). Meanwhile, Watt's Burnley are staring at relegation from the Premier League following a heavy 4-1 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday.

The former Houston Texan defensive end is worth $70m (£55m).
