Film props from The Shining, Star Wars, Jurassic Park and more go up for auction

Jack Nicholson’s axe in The Shining, Russell Crowe’s armour from Gladiator and a number of iconic movie props are about to go up for auction.

The sale, which is being held by Prop Store, will take place over two days on 30 September and 1 October in the BFI IMAX cinema in Waterloo, London.

Some 900 lots will be sold over the course of the auction.

The axe is seen in Nicholson’s famous “Here’s Johnny!” scene in The Shining. Its guide price during the auction ranges from £40,000 to £60,000 ($48,680 to $73,020).

The Gladiator armour, meanwhile, is Maximus Decimus Meridius’s Roman general attire. It’s on offer at a guide price of £30,000 to £50,000 ($36,509 to $60,850).

Among the items on offer is the lightsaber used by Samuel L Jackson’s Mace Windu in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, at an estimated price of £50,000 to £100,000 ($60,850 to $121,684).

Mel Gibson’s sword from Braveheart, a Stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars: A New Hope, Michael Keaton’s Batsuit from the 1989 Batman and the ghost trap used in the 1984 Ghostbusters are also among the items going up for auction.

Also included on the catalogue is a remote-control R2-BHD droid from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Pierce Brosnan’s pistol from Goldeneye, Storm’s suit worn by Halle Berry in the 2000 X-Men, Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond costume from Jurassic Park, Robert De Niro’s pea coat from The Godfather: Part II, and Tom Hanks’s sneakers from Forrest Gump.
