Film crews take over derelict city building for star-studded comedy movie

Film crews have taken over the grounds of a derelict city centre building.

The team working on comedy film Promenade set up in the front courtyard of the Grade I listed Marlborough House in the Old Steine, Brighton.

A high powered light with a big fabric draped in front lit the building which appears to be the centrepiece of the show which revolves around a "tatty old" mansion.

Security officers guarded the set as technicians, directors and actors milled about between sets, gazebos and catering tents.

The whodunnit comedy directed by John Jencks features a cast some 50 people strong including The Thick Of It's Roger Allam along with John Finniemore and Anna Chancellor.

The plot follows the disappearance of a "golden feather" which the mansion's residents have to find.

"Will they find the talisman that previously bound them together, or will their community, now divided against itself, irrevocably unravel?" a spokesman for the show said.
