FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a retirement housing block in a Herefordshire town.

A fire engine was seen outside Goodrich Court in Ross-on-Wye's Gloucester Road this morning.

But it seems there is no need to worry, with a spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirming that a crew was called to an automatic fire alarm which had been activated at the home in Ross at 10.14am on July 1.

The spokesperson said the crew, which was send from Ross-on-Wye fire station, had found no sign of fire at the premises and that there were no casualties.

No other emergency services were required at the scene, the spokesperson said.

The retirement living complex, which was built in the 1990s, is just a stone's throw from Ross town centre, within easy reach of local shops and restaurants.
