At least nine people were dead and four missing after heavy rain brought intense flooding to central Italy, the Ancona prefecture said according to local media on September 16.

This video was released by Italy’s national fire service, the Vigili del Fuoco, which said it shows rescue workers searching for missing people among mud and felled trees in Serra de’ Conti in the Italian region of Marche.

An orange alert remained in place for parts of central and southern Italy on Friday, including the Campania and Lazio regions, as rain and strong winds were expected to continue through to the afternoon. Credit: Vigili del Fuoco via Storyful
