Five Rescued From Fire In Edinburgh Flat

At least five people have been rescued from a fire at a flat in Edinburgh city centre.

More than 40 firefighters have been tackling the blaze, which broke out around 10am on Tuesday in a first floor tenement flat in the city's Tollcross area.

Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade said its operation to put out the fire is still ongoing.

Ten firefighters with breathing apparatus are searching for anyone else who may be trapped.

A spokeswoman told Sky News: "It is a very significant fire.

"Dealing with it is a complex operation at a busy time in a high density part of the city."
