The Foo Fighters make their eagerly anticipated return to Manchester this week to kick off a series of summer stadium shows across the UK. The band head here on the Everything or Nothing at All UK Tour, fresh from a slew of acclaimed gigs in the States.

In what are set to be some seriously monumental shows, the band play two nights at the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium on June 13 and 15 before heading on to Glasgow, London, Cardiff and Birmingham.

Fans who have seen Dave Grohl and co in action know exactly what to expecct from these shows - at their last outing here in Manchester our reviewer hailed it "a crowd pleasing riot of a greatest hits set".

This summer’s dates also mark Foo Fighters’ most extensive UK trek since the release of their unanimously acclaimed 11th album, But Here We Are. It smashed into the UK charts at number one — the sixth Foo Fighters album to do so — while generating some of the most positive critical notes of the band’s career.

We can also expect tender moments too at these shows, as the band pay tribute to their much-loved drummer Taylor Hawkins who died in March 2022. At previous gigs the song Aurora has been played in tribute to the much-missed musician.

Here we take a look at some of the other details of the gigs if you're heading along to the Manchester shows this week.

Who are the support acts?

There will be different support acts at the two Manchester gigs.

On Thursday, June 13, fans will be able to see Manchester's Loose Articles start the party at Old Trafford before Brit Award and Grammy Award winning band Wet Leg take to the stage.

On the Saturday, June 15 gig, fans will be treated to Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett and South Wales alt-rockers Chroma in support of the band.

Stage times

Stage times are provided as a guide and are always subject to change. The best advice is always to get in and find your seats as early as possible to enjoy the show. The following stage times have now been confirmed on the band's official account for Saturday's gig at Emirates Old Trafford.

Gates open: 4.00pm

Chroma : 5.25pm

Courtney Barnett : 6.15pm

Foo Fighters : 7.30pm

Curfew : 10.30pm

The times above ran almost exactly to this schedule on the opening night, June 13, with the Foo Fighters arriving on stage at 7.40pm and finishing at 10.20pm

Will there be merchandise?

There will indeed be merch available at the shows in Manchester. But the band has also just announced that it will be opening the Merchandise stalls outside the ground early for those who want to get their tour t-shirts ahead of the gigs.

The merch stands will be open on Wednesday June 12 from 12noon to 7pm at Gate 10/11 on Talbot Road. You can find out all the details about what's on sale here.

Items available include a rather special limited edition bee print to commemorate the Manchester shows.

How to get to Emirates Old Trafford

By Metrolink:

Fans are advised to travel to the show via public transport as there is no car parking available at Old Trafford Cricket Ground - except for accessibility parking which can be booked via the Emirates Old Trafford website. Those travelling by tram can reach the Old Trafford tram stop, connected to the Bury and Altrincham lines, which is located right next to the ground.

Stretford, Old Trafford, A56 Chester Road and Altrincham Metrolink Line stops are all set to be busier as a result of the concerts, particularly as big gigs are also taking place across town on both of those nights at Co-op Live where revellers are also being encouraged to use the trams.

After the concert, fans can use the Old Trafford station for journeys back into the city centre and Trafford Bar for southbound journeys on the East Didsbury or Airport lines. The gig will conclude by 10.30pm and the last tram from Old Trafford to the city centre will depart at 1.08am and towards Altrincham at 12.29am. The last tram from Trafford Bar to East Didsbury will depart at 11.46pm and to the Airport at 11.31pm.

By car:

If driving to the concert, be warned the Mancunian Way and Bridgewater Way towards Emirates Old Trafford will be extremely busy.

And after the show, Chester Road towards the M60 and routes including Wharfside Way, Village Way and Parkway towards the M60 will also be heavily congested with delays expected. Fans can park for free at Parkway or Sale Water Park and use Park and Ride services to board the tram to Trafford Bar/Wharfside. Fans can also park at Old Trafford Football ground, but fees apply.

Taxis:

Taxi drop off and pick up will be Chorley Street - for Northbound destinations - or Tesco Superstore on Chester Road for Southbound Destinations.

Will there be road closures?

The roads around the stadium (Brian Statham Way, Great Stone Road, Warwick Road and Talbot Road at the front of the ground) will have closures in place during the concert.
