Three generations of footie fans from Cornwall have transformed a Vauxhall Corsa ahead of the European football championships that will kick off this weekend. Grandfather Nigel 'Nishy' Rule, 68, son Adam Rule, 32, and grandson Roman Rule, three, want to "excite and encourage" the next generation to enjoy the tournament.

They will be cheering on England in the team's upcoming games from the striking hatchback. As part of their plan, they've transformed the vehicle into a red and white masterpiece, adorned with flags of the England football crest.

Thea Rule, 30, who lives with her family in Camborne, said she was super proud of what her husband, father-in-law and son had achieved.

She said Nigel and Adam had worked on a similar transformation back when her husband was a teenager and it's been great watching them work on this car with their young son. "Back in 2006, My football-mad husband and his father-in-law redesigned an old, rusted Citroen AX for the European Championships even making it into a national newspaper," she said.

"After having it as one of their most-favoured memories, this summer they decided to recreate it with our son Roman, hoping to excite and encourage the next generation to enjoy the tournament."

She continued: "Adam and Nigel, along with a little bit of help from their family have restored a Vauxhall Corsa this time, with intentions to tour around towns in Cornwall, igniting passion and deliver some football fever to an array of local fans."

Following this year's UEFA European Football Championship, Adam and Nigel will be raffling off the car - with all proceeds going to a local children's charity. Which charity exactly is yet to be decided.

The UEFA Euro 2024 kicks off in Munich today (Friday, June 14) and ends with the final in Berlin next month, on Sunday (July 14). England's first game will take place on Sunday (June 16) and will see them travel to Gelsenkirchen to take on Serbia.

Thea added that the entire family was excited about the championships and the car might be spotted driving around Cornwall this weekend. They will be in Newquay on Sunday for the big game.
