Saskia Hampele has ruled out a permanent return to Neighbours.

The actress played Georgia Brooks between 2012 and 2015, and has made guest appearances since her exit – her last one being in April 2016.

Speaking to New Idea Magazine, she said that she doesn't see herself going back to the Australian soap as a regular because she wants to try new roles.

"One of the reasons I decided to leave Neighbours is because once you are at Neighbours, you are very much locked into that role for as long as you are on the show," Saskia explained.

"It doesn't give you flexibility to play other characters, and for me, after three years of playing one character I didn't feel challenged anymore.

"Unless they have a character with multiple personalities to keep jumping between different roles... going back permanently isn't in my plans."

Saskia added that Georgia was a "dream role" and is thankful for the show.

Georgia's exit saw the character leave for Germany and support her mother Rhonda following the news Rhonda has cancer.

After leaving the soap, Saskia spent some time in Los Angeles to pursue other career opportunities.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
