FOUR owlet chicks have hatched from their eggs in Weymouth.

A nesting pair of barn owls laid four eggs at Lorton Meadows Nature Reserve on Lorton Lane last month.

On Tuesday, April 23, the first of the owlet chicks hatched.

Now, three more chicks have followed and have been caught on camera on the 24-hour-live stream on the Dorset Wildlife Trust website.

A spokesperson for Dorset Wildlife Trust said: "All four of the barn owl chicks have now hatched.

"You can see them huddled up together as the female prepares to briefly leave the nest box.

"We are looking forward to watching the small owlets grow and eventually fledge the nest."

Anyone can tune in at any time to witness first-hand the behaviour of the barn owls, as the parents raise their chicks ready for them to fly the nest this summer.

Webcam followers are encouraged to comment on the dedicated barn owl webcam Facebook page to share what they’ve seen and help build a picture of how the pair are getting on.

You can watch the barn owls and their growing family on a 24-hour live feed on the Dorset Wildlife Trust website.
