Four people including three children rescued from 'severe' blaze by firefighters

Four people – including three children – have been rescued from a house after a “severe” fire broke out in the early hours of the morning.

A girl, two boys and a woman were saved by firefighters from the first floor of the burning building in Yardley, Birmingham.

Their condition is not yet known.

Crews were called to the scene on Mintern Road, Yardley, at about 12.45am on Wednesday, after the blaze broke out on the ground floor of the home.

West Midlands Fire Service said a total of 13 firefighters were sent to tackle the fire, which it described as “severe”.

The blaze came just hours after the fire service had been called to a large blaze at a house in nearby Handsworth, which also engulfed a nearby vehicle.

One man was rescued from the building on Hamstead Road at about 9.30pm on Tuesday.
