Free parking could be made available for some events in Weymouth.

Event organisers in Weymouth are being invited to apply for free parking to support their event in 2024, thanks to a partnership between Weymouth Town Council and Dorset Council.

Three dates are available in 2024 when local organisations can use selected car parks for free for events that will attract both residents and visitors to enjoy a day out in the town centre.

The car parks could be made free for a day depending on the results of a survey.

Local charities and community groups that are Weymouth-based can now request which car park(s) they would like to use free of charge by completing a short online survey.

The survey runs until 9am on Monday, May 20.

The parking could be available on three dates in Dorset Council-operated car parks across Weymouth, excluding the month of December.

A fourth day has been allocated on Sunday, June 23, as part of the Armed Forces Weekend event, when all Dorset Council-operated car parks will be free to the public.

Jane Biscombe, Town Clerk at Weymouth Town Council, said: “These free parking dates are a real boost for key events as it helps to bring more people into Weymouth to enjoy a day out.

“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Dorset Council again to offer free parking on selected event days. So, if you would like your event to be considered for free parking this year, complete our short online survey by May 20th.”

Alternatively, you can email events@weymouthtowncouncil.gov.uk to request a form.

Applications will then be considered by Weymouth Town Council’s Environment and Services Committee later in May, before the successful organisations are announced.
