Worcestershire cricketer Josh Baker was found dead at his apartment after he didn't arrive at a match yesterday, Thursday, May 2. The 20-year-old had been playing in a second XI fixture against Somerset at Bromsgrove School this week.

Baker took three wickets on the third day of the match, including that of England test player Jack Leach, but failed to arrive at the ground the following day. In an update, The Mail reported that he was found by a friend who had gone looking for him.

The young left-arm spinner had not answered calls from his teammates when he failed to turn up to play. This prompted his friend to head to his apartment.

The club added: “We are united in our grief and committed to honouring his memory in a manner befitting the remarkable person he was. It was his vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm that endeared him to everyone he met. His warmth, kindness, and professionalism were remarkable, making him a true credit to his family and a loved member of our team.”
