Game of Thrones' Kit Harington explains why he and Rose Leslie refuses to take selfies with fans

Kit Harington has explained why he and his fiancee Rose Leslie refuse to take photos with Game of Thrones‘ fans, revealing that he becomes “grumpy” when he is approached in public.

The actor admitted that the constant attention made him feel like pop star Justin Bieber as he gave an insight into just how intense fame can get for stars of the HBO fantasy.

Speaking to The Guardian, Kit complained about his celebrity status, saying: “Like, being in Spain and there being a crowd of 500, maybe 600 fans camped outside the hotel every day, and you have to get through them.

“It feels like being Bieber or something. I don’t particularly enjoy that. I’m glad I’ve experienced it, but… It’s a bit incessant.

“It makes me snappy and it makes me uncomfortable, and I turn into a grumpy person.”

The 30-year-old star also confessed that he will never take a photo alongside a fan and Rose, with the pair reluctant to be turned into “puppets”.

Kit and Rose met whilst filming the HBO fantasy drama, with Rose playing Jon Snow’s love interest, Ygritte, for three seasons before meeting her tragic end.

Speaking about selfies, he said: “You just have to [turn them down], otherwise you start feeling like a mannequin.

“Especially me and Rose, we never do a photo together. Because then it makes our relationship feel like puppets. Like we’re a walking show.”

Despite Kit’s reluctance to take photos with fans, the star hit the headlines last year when he did whatever he could to cheer up disappointed theatre patrons when his London play, ‘Doctor Faustus’, was cancelled.

Both the matinee and evening performances of the West End play were axed due to flooding at the theatre, but Kit made sure that he was on hand to soften the blow, meeting with his fans and taking pictures.

A source said at the time: “Harington met his fans in the theatre lobby to sign posters and take selfies.”
