Gardening enthusiast Carmen Johnston has offered a unique tip for boosting plants' growth using an out-of-the-box homemade fertiliser. The unconventional method, outlined on Facebook, involved using 'banana peel water'.

The miraculous results transformed parts of her garden, including a noticeable increase in herb growth. It's also proven beneficial for flowers, vegetables, and tomatoes, she said.

She added: "I want to share a tip with everyone. I am feeding them with banana peel water."

To create the concoction, Carmen revealed: "Take 2 banana peels and soak overnight in a gallon of water. Water your plants with the banana peel water. It's full of potassium and more. You can use it on veggies, flowers, herbs. Does not need to be refrigerated. I keep a jug going all the time and keep adding water as I use it up. I also throw in peels as I eat them."

"As fresh peels are added, old ones turn brown and can be discarded. This formulation makes for an excellent organic fertiliser. It works wonders on veggies, herbs, flowers and tomatoes. I am currently also using it on my green pepper.", reports the Mirror.

Singing high praises for her new found technique she says, My spearmint plant is massive and so is my dill, which is waist-high. I have loads of green cherry tomatoes and beautiful green peppers.

Her innovative gardening advice sparked enthusiasm amongst the online gardening community, with over 2,000 comments on her post. According to Devon Live, Christie Helen wrote: "Yay finally a use for bananas I bought; looked at but didn't eat."

Elle Ballou commented: "Beautiful and thanks for the tip. I use the banana peel for my aloe vera plants."

Baking in the Glen expressed gratitude, saying: "Thank you so much for sharing! The herbs look so big and beautiful. Mine never hold up or produce enough so I'm glad to get this tip! ".
